Programs & Operations Facility & Equipment Officers Jarratt Volunteer Fire Department was organized in 1944 by the Jarratt Ruitans and over the years it has become one of the strongest organizations in the area. The department consist of a 25 man roster who are on call 24 hours a day. Our building and equipment has become one of the finest in our area. The mission is to insure our community that their property and lives are in good hands and to be fully trained in not only fire, but EMS as well. The Department has 25 member that are trained Firefighter I or greater. Out of those 25 members, the department has 10 emergency medical techs and four cardiac techs. Each member is certified in emergency vehicle operations, hazard material operations, and public education.
The department provides public education to numerous schools in the area. The department tries to preside at all community functions and participate in what ever events that are taking place within the community. The department answers approximately 150 calls per year ranging from fire, EMS, agricultural, vehicle extrication, and life saving. The department currently works under Fire and Rescue Certifications with members trained in both areas.
The fire station was built in 1989 by the members of the JVFD. It has the capability to house up to 6 pieces of apparatus. The building consist of one large meeting room, fully equipped kitchen with dinning area, lounge area, equipment room and office. A detached garage is currently under construction.
Jarratt Volunteer Fire Department is led into action by Arthur G. Elliott ( Artie ), who has served the department for 12 years. The department has 25 volunteer professionals.
