About the Sheriff

 

An elected constitutional officer, the sheriff is responsible for the security of the courthouse and each court room in the county, and is also responsible for serving court papers and civil process. Other responsibilities of the sheriff are to enforce state laws and local ordinances. The sheriff is elected for a four-year term and has authority to appoint and remove deputy officers. The sheriff also provides courthouse security during operating hours five days a week.

Uniform Patrol

The Greensville County Sheriff's Office answer all complaints, works courthouse security, patrol and business checks, and investigates suspicious activity.  The patrol division is responsible for all police services in Greensville County. The patrol provides the first response to the community for services. These services are provided 24 hours a day seven days a week.

Civil Department

The Greensville County Sheriff's Office Civil Department consist of two civil processors, three court security personnel, one administrative secretary, and one part time employee.
